When sixty-nine percent of participants in the research study conducted by Citizens Research agree that adult children are entitled to large damage awards, there must be a central reason governing such a statement. Respondents were asked to strongly agree, agree, disagree or strongly disagree with the following statement: When a parent dies and had adult children, the children are entitled to a large monetary award if the party being sued is responsible for his or her death. These dramatic findings indicate that potential jurors are placing a great deal of value in having parents. It also indicates that when a parent is killed of dies through no fault of their own, but by the negligence of someone else or some other entity, this is reason enough to award money damages.
